The GRAMMY-winning band led by composer and multi-instrumentalist Gordon Goodwin brings swing-era power to this salute to clarinet legend and big band icon Benny Goodman featuring Anat Cohen and Eddie Daniels, two of the greatest living clarinetists who represent two generations of woodwind artistry.

At the leading edge of a wave of brilliant Israeli improvisers who have energized the New York jazz scene, Cohen is the most acclaimed clarinetist of her generation, topping DownBeat Critics and Readers Polls in the clarinet category for eight consecutive years. She’s embraced 21st century modern jazz, Brazilian music, and swing with equal aplomb, recording her sublime 2010 Anzic Records session Clarinetwork at the Village Vanguard during the Benny Goodman centennial celebration. New York-born Daniels began as a 13-year-old prodigy, making a name at 25 for his work with the legendary Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra and working with a legion of artists from Bob James and Dave Grusin to Freddie Hubbard and Billy Joel. The five-time GRAMMY nominee has recorded nearly 30 albums over his career, including his 1992 Benny Goodman tribute album Benny Rides Again, co-led with vibraphone master Gary Burton. Daniels guested with Goodwin on their 1999 debut Swingin’ for the Fences. Formed in 2000 by the GRAMMY and Emmy-winning Goodwin, whose resume includes Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, Sarah Vaughan, Toni Braxton and Christina Aguilera, the Big Phat Band has released a series of dazzling records that reflect Goodwin’s influences – Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Buddy Rich, Earth, Wind & Fire, Tower of Power – and showcase a well-oiled ensemble with star guest soloists like Arturo Sandoval, Eddie Daniels, Dianne Reeves, Patti Austin and Chick Corea.
